Have you ever wondered what the most effective weight loss tactics were? I have and I recently came across a study done by a Harvard medical School research fellow named Dr. Jacinda M. Nicklas who studied over 4,000 obese patients that participated in an in-home survey in the U.S. from 2001-2006. These test subjects all had a body mass index (BMI) of at least 30.
Most Effective Weight Loss Tactics
It turns out that obese individuals trying to lose weight by exercising more and eating less fat were more likely to lose weight than people that relied on fad diets and diet products. In fact, a 5% overall weight loss was common and some that joined a weight loss program lost 10% or more of their body weight.
According to Dr. Nicklas…
“Despite popular perception that obese people are unable to lose weight, a substantial number of obese participants in our study did report successful weight loss, suggesting that some obese U.S. adults can and do lose weight. Although national guidelines recommend a loss of 10% of body weight for improved health in the obese, studies have found that even a modest weight loss of 5% can lead to health benefits.”
